MDMA Privacy Policy
In short: MDMA collects no personal data. There are no accounts, analytics, ads or tracking. Your documents stay on your Mac.
Who we are
MDMA is a Markdown viewer and editor for Mac, with a Quick Look extension for Finder. It is provided by AXIOMIC LTD, registered in the Republic of Cyprus under number HE 480260, Charalampou Mouskou & Grigori Afxentiou 20, Athinodorou Business Center, Floor 3, Office 306, 8010 Paphos, Cyprus (“we”).
What we collect
Nothing. MDMA has no server of ours to talk to: it sends no personal data, documents, usage statistics or identifiers to us or to anyone acting for us.
Your documents and folders
- MDMA runs in the macOS App Sandbox. It opens only the documents you choose, and saves only to them and to places you pick in a save panel.
- Images, data files and documents that a document refers to are read only from folders you allow with “Allow Access…”. The list of allowed folders is kept on your Mac, and you can remove any of them in MDMA › Settings › General › Folder access.
- Your settings (theme, reading width, editor options) are stored on your Mac. The Quick Look extension reads the same settings to show previews in your theme.
When MDMA uses the internet
- Images on the web. When a document shows an image from a web address (for example
), MDMA loads it from that address, as a web browser would. The server that hosts the image receives the usual request information, such as your IP address; its operator's privacy policy applies. - Links. Web links in documents open in your default browser.
- Purchases. The App Store handles the free trial and MDMA Lifetime (see below).
Everything else, including math, diagrams, charts and fonts, is rendered on your Mac with code included in the app.
Exported HTML files refer to the math fonts on a public content delivery network (cdn.jsdelivr.net), so that the file looks right on any computer. Whoever opens such a file in a browser loads those fonts from there.
Purchases
The 14-day trial and MDMA Lifetime are in-app purchases processed by Apple. MDMA asks the App Store only whether your Apple Account owns them. We do not receive your name, email address or payment details. Apple's Privacy Policy applies to the App Store.
Information Apple shares with developers
If you have chosen in macOS to share analytics with app developers, Apple may send us crash reports and aggregated usage figures for MDMA. They do not identify you, and we use them only to fix problems. You can change this in System Settings › Privacy & Security › Analytics & Improvements.
Children
MDMA collects no data from anyone, including children.
Your rights
Because we hold no personal data from MDMA, there is nothing for us to access, correct or delete. If you write to us, we use your message and address only to answer you, and delete them when they are no longer needed. You may complain to a data protection authority, in Cyprus the Commissioner for Personal Data Protection.
Changes
If MDMA starts handling data differently, we will update this policy before the change reaches you, with a new version and date at the top.
